This week we had a great start to the five round Zukertort rapid tournament (G25+0) here at the Santa Monica Bay Chess Club. We’ve been theming our tournaments around famous players of the past, and this month highlights Johannes Zukertort.

Brian Glover kicked us off with a presentation on a famous game between Zukertort and Blackburne, ending in a beautiful combination from Zukertort. Chessgames.com has the full game’s PGN, and here it is if you want to step through it:
